Petersen Lake

Petersen Lake (7)

Join us as we get to know our little piece of Canada located in the far reaches of North Western Ontario. Being the only piece of deeded property with a 300,000-acre expanse of Crown Land gives us lots of room to spread out and the opportunity to explore what this vast area has to offer.

We are part of a large river and lake system with many areas that have likely never been fished - something I plan to begin working on this year.

So check in from time to time and see how we are doing.

Up In Smoke This year Lou and Roman, the crew of the We Work for Food Construction Company, or WWFFCC, planned to kick back some, and rather than work themselves to a frazzle every waking moment, enjoy what the lake, and surrounding area had to offer from a rest and relaxation standpoint.

There is a French term know as Terroir that is used to denote the special characteristics that climate, soil, topography and other natural elements bestow upon things like coffee, tea and of course wine. It can loosely be translated as meaning “a sense of place,” and is a way of describing the unique aspects of a particular place that influences the taste of the products that come from there.

The Petersen Lake Monster, affectionately known as "Bruce" put in a rare appearance this past week, but unfortunately for him it was on the end of Jeanette Nooren's line.

I have yet to decide if it's more exiting or satisfying to be actively looking for something that appears unattainable and finding it, or to have it unexpectedly drop into your lap.In either case the Fates have to be in your corner, and so they were in regards to the purchase of our Petersen Lake property in the far reaches of North Western Ontario.

When we first visited our Petersen Lake property, we were quick to decide that together with some general clean up and repairs, a small amount of new construction would be in order.   Perhaps a screened in porch or gazebo? Should we think about replacing the roof?  Did the cabin foundation need reinforcing, and so on.

The following is an interview with Deline (DEL-in-aye) a five year old Alaskan Malamute.  Deline is a princess.  Her father was the king of malamutes in Canada for a number of years, (MBIS, BISS, Am. Can. Ch. Spiritrun Marlaynes Tobe Tyler, CGC) and she is adamant that everyone remember she is royalty.
